Paul Watanabe grew up in a world at peace for over eight hundred years. There was one world government, one world king, the Lord Emmanuel. Lord Emmanuel was proclaimed God. He had a race of immortal beings to back Him up. People were free as long as they submitted to His rule. Those who opposed Him were dealt with in rapid order, and very few people opposed Him; after all, everyone had work and a place to live. No one went hungry. Surely this was paradise. Wasn't it?
